TOR 30 is a race through extraordinary landscapes. A 30k race on technical trails through unparalleled landscapes of Italy, designed for specialists but open to anyone who wants to experience the allure of mountain racing and is a highly emotional experience in a magical, high-altitude setting. Crossing the narrow Col de Malatrà pass at an altitude of 2925 metres is like passing through the 'gateway to Paradise'. Not just because of the vast, imposing landscape - with the entire Mont Blanc range on one side and the ridges of the Grand Corbin that reach heights of over 4300 metres on the other - but also because Malatrà marks the beginning of the most fascinating stretch of the Tor des Géants, descending through wide valleys and woods and delivering runners to the finishing line in Courmayeur.
This September 14, 2024 Sunmaya Budha imposed an unsustainable pace for her opponents from the start, immediately pulling away from Swiss Federica Meier who at Frassati was already 4 minutes behind. The Nepalese athlete, already 13th this year at the Marathon du Mont-Blanc, is at her first victory in a European race and is the first Asian athlete to triumph in a TORX® with Kailas race: she also had the satisfaction of finishing in 5th place in the general classification, in addition to the record for the women's race (3h24'56”), shaving off just 40 seconds from the previous record set by Giuditta Turini (3h25'36”). Behind her, on the podium, were Federica Meier (3h40'16”) and Chiara Zenato (3h49'21”).
